VietJet Air Signs Partnership with Qatar Airways

An interline partnership between VietJet Air and Qatar Airways has been agreed and signed in an effort to create more options and convenience for passengers.

Last October 11, VietJet has announced that the first phase of the cooperation program began in September, allowing Qatar Airways' passengers to travel to and from locations in Vietnam and Taiwan directly served by VietJet, as reported by Dan Tri. The second phase of the program will enable VietJet’s passengers to fly to over 150 destinations around the world served by Qatar Airways through a single reservation across the networks of both airlines.

"We are delighted to welcome VietJet to our growing roster of interline partners as they allow us to provide a more seamless experience for our passengers. The new agreement with VietJet will offer our passengers even more choice, providing them an easy connection in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi before transferring to their Qatar Airways flights”, said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive.

The Deputy Director of VietJet - Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, explained that the new program is an effort by the airline to create more travel opportunities for their customers, adding that the company plans to expand cooperation with other global carriers in the future.

Qatar Airways began flights to Ho Chi Minh City on March 25, 2007. It was the first Persian Gulf-based carrier to offer direct flights to Vietnam’s largest city, before also adding flights to Hanoi in November of 2010, according to Independent Online News.

Currently, VietJet has a fleet of 45 aircraft, conducts 350 flights daily, and has served approximately 40 million passengers while Qatar Airways currently operates two direct flights between Hanoi and Doha daily, and 10 fights per week between Ho Chi Minh City and Doha.
