The United States Embassy in Hanoi and U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have announced that due to staff changes that are related to the COVID-19 virus, they will suspend all visa interviews starting March 19 (Thursday).
The U.S. Embassy Vietnam website had this official notice:
“In order to protect both visa applicants and our staff in response to the evolving Coronavirus situation, as of March 19, 2020, the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have suspended visa interviews. All appointments from March 19 through April 10 have been canceled.
For non-immigrant visa applicants: We will open new appointments as soon as we are able. Please check our website frequently for updates. If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please see the information about qualifications for an expedited appointment.
For immigrant visa applicants: We will update this notice once we are able to resume visa processing. At that time, if you have already missed your previously scheduled appointment, we will post instructions for rescheduling.
The Embassy and the Consulate regret any inconvenience caused by these measures and will resume normal operations as soon as possible.”
