IoT startup 2016 is officially open to Vietnam developers

To encourage business creativity and support new startups in Vietnam, the Saigon Hi-Tech Park Incubation Center (SHTP-IC) has organized the 2016 Internet of Things Startup Competition (IoT Startup 2016) with the theme “Developing Smart Cities and Improving the Quality of Life”.

The competition will be launched from April 2016 to August 2016 and will target a variety of participants from universities, government and private-sector institutions, the enterprise community and those companies and people who want to operate a startup in developing IoT technology in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.

The “Internet of Things” (IoT) is a term that describes the network of physical objects such as automobiles, intelligent buildings, home appliances and personal electronic devices, as well as other items that are embedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity that enables these objects to collect and exchange data.

IoT is the new technology trend that is spreading throughout the globe, and creates breakthroughs in collecting, processing and analyzing data, and regulating different systems to foster a digitized environment and help individuals and governments become more intelligent.

Vietnam is in the very early stage of IoT application development that will be necessary in a variety of business sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare and transportation. As the IoT begins development in Vietnam, the countries entrepreneurs, corporations, academic and government institutions need to create an intellectual and practical roadmap for development that sets clearly defined industry standards and prioritizes areas of development.

IoT Startup 2016 is considered as a driving force to open many opportunities for Vietnamese youth to study and develop IoT and national smart environments.

IoT Startup 2016 is has a prize pool of 100 million VND, and the “Top 5” IoT projects will receive ongoing support related to strategy, innovation, funding, human resources, management, sales and technology so that the winning companies can bring their products to market and commercialize them.
